VPN FIX for Linux/Ubuntu/Android

Description of Issue:

The University VPN certificate is valid for a year. VPN is officially supported for Mac and Windows machines. VPN for mobile devices and Linux (along with other open source operating systems) are best effort.

The problem:

When connecting to VPN, affected users get the error: ā€œAuthentication failed due to problem verifying server certificateā€

The fix:

Install the certificate from this site - choose the Entrust Root Certification Authority (G2) column and select the (Non-EV SSL) CA - L1K option in the Chaib Certificates row - https://www.entrust.com/resources/tools/root-certificate-downloads

Installation for Linux/Ubuntu users:

1. Go to /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/

2. Create a new folder, i.e. "sudo mkdir uog"

3. Change the file extension of the certificate from .cer to .crt

4. Copy the .crt file into the uog folder

5. Make sure the permissions are OK (755 for the folder, 644 for the file)

6. Run "sudo update-ca-certificates"

Installation for Android users:

1. Move on to Settings

2. Now, navigate to security (or Advanced Settings > security, Depends on the Device and Operating System)

3. From Credential Storage Tab, click on Install from Phone Storage/Install from SD Card.

4. A new file storage manager will appear.

5. Now find the SSL certificate from your device, and select it to install.

Then try to connect to VPN.
