Introducing Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024

 

For our 2026-2027 Adobe renewal, we are offering users the option to switch to a new more cost-effective version of Adobe Acrobat called "Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024" starting on March 23rd, 2026. This version offers all pro features previously available in Acrobat Pro 2020 at a lower price point compared to your current Acrobat Pro subscription. It is recommended that any user that does not require the advanced features of an Acrobat Pro subscription consider switching to this version of Acrobat.

How do I switch to Acrobat Professional 2024?

 

If you have a current subscription for Adobe Acrobat Pro, you may have already received your annual renewal notice with the options to renew, cancel or switch to Acrobat Professional 2024 by completing this request form no later than Thursday, March 5th, 2026.

 

Departmental IT admins may have received this renewal request on your behalf or have opted for your entire department to be switched to Acrobat Professional 2024.

 

If you have have already completed the request form or have been notified by a departmental IT admin that you will be switched over to Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024, please follow the steps outlined below to prepare your device by uninstalling your current version of Adobe Acrobat Pro and installing Acrobat Professional 2024. You are able to complete this uninstall/install process now in preparation for this change and your current Acrobat Pro subscription will continue to work as normal after you install the Acrobat Professional 2024 on your device.


Do I need to make any changes on my computer? How do I install Acrobat Acrobat Professional 2024 on my device?

 

Yes, users are required to uninstall all current versions of Acrobat from their device and then install Adobe Acrobat Professional. Please complete the steps outlined below prior to March 22nd, 2026.

 

Step 1: Uninstall the current version of Adobe Acrobat Pro from your device

End users will need to uninstall the current version of Acrobat Pro from their device in order to install Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 and to continue using Acrobat after March 22nd, 2026. This can be done now in preparation for this change and your current Acrobat Pro subscription will continue to work as normal after you install the Acrobat Professional 2024 on your device.

 

Users with managed devices can uninstall their current version of Adobe Acrobat Pro from their device through the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App or by using the Acrobat Uninstall Utility that can be found in either Software Center or Company Portal (Intune). Admin rights on your computer are not required for either of these options.

 

Users with admin rights to their computer can uninstall via the Creative Cloud Desktop App or by following instructions from Adobe (How to uninstall Acrobat).

 

How to uninstall Adobe Acrobat via the Creative Cloud Desktop app

 

1. Open the Creative Cloud Desktop app on your computer.

2. Click on "Apps" , which can be found in the menu on both the left and right side of the home screen.

 

3. Find "Acrobat" in the list of Apps, click on the 3 dots to open the action menu and select "Uninstall"

 

 

How to Uninstall Acrobat via Software Center or Company Portal

 

1. On your device, search for either Software Center or Company portal (if your device has been migrated to Intune).

2. Locate "Adobe Uninstall Utility".

 

 

3. Select Install to uninstall Adobe — no admin rights required. Allow 3–4 minutes for completion of removal. Adobe shortcut will disappear from desktop 

 

Step 2: Install Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 on your device

Please ensure that your device meets the system requirements for the Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 prior to installation.

 

How to Install Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 on Personal or Non-managed Devices

 

How to Install Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 on Managed Windows Devices (CCS Managed Desktop Clients and Shared Services Clients)

CCS Managed Desktop and Shared Services Clients users can self-install Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 from either Software Center or Company Portal on their managed Windows Device.

 
Install via Software Centre

 

1. Click on the "UofG Software" icon on your desktop of your windows device to launch the Software Center.

 

If you cannot find the UofG Software icon on your desktop, you can search for "Software Center" or find Software Center in your list of apps to launch the Software Center application. If you cannot find Software Center on your device, try searching for "Company Portal" and proceed with the instructions listed below under Install via Company Portal.

 

2. Under "Applications", select Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024

 

 

3. Click on "Install" to install the Adobe Acrobat Professional on your device. The application will install in the background through the Software Center and no additional installation windows will launch. Once the installation is complete, Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 will show up as "Adobe Classic" in your list of apps on your device. 

 

 

Install via Company Portal

 

4. The installation is completed when you no longer see the status of "Installing" and see the option to "Uninstall". You should now be able to see Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 listed as "Adobe Acrobat Classic" in your list of apps and can launch the application.

 

 

5. The first time you open Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 (Adobe Acrobat Classic), you will be prompted to log in with your existing or newly created AdobeID associated with your U of G email.

 

NOTE: If you already have the Creative Cloud Desktop app on your device and are logged in with your AdobeID, Acrobat Professional 2024 will automatically sign in with this AdobeID.

 

 

6. Please ensure that you select "University of Guelph CCS" (Business Profile) if you have multiple profiles under your AdobeID in order to access your Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 license purchased through CCS.

 

 

7. After you have successfully logged in to your Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 (Acrobat Classic) desktop app, you should be able to use this new version of Acrobat with your current Adobe Acrobat Pro subscription until your subscription is converted to a Acrobat Professional 2024 license.

 

What are the next steps?

New Acrobat Professional 2024 licenses will be assigned to end user AdobeIDs between March 16th and March 22nd, 2026. Please ensure that you have completed the uninstall/install process prior to this date so you are ready to start using Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 and soon as your license is assigned.

 

Users will receive an email with the subject line "Get started with Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024" from notifications@adobe.com stating that you now have access to Adobe Acrobat Professional 2024 that you purchased (see example email below). If you do not receive this email by March 22nd, 2026, please check your spam/junk folder or contact the CCS IT Help Centre via email (swsales@uoguelph.ca).

 

 

Current Acrobat Pro subscriptions for users who have opted to switch will be unassigned after the new Acrobat Professional 2024 license has been assigned to ensure users do not experience any interruptions. Users will receive the following email notification once this change is complete.

 

 

 

If you cannot access Acrobat features on your device after this change, please double-check you have the correct version of Acrobat installed on your device (Should appear as Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Professional 2024 in your list of apps).

 

Users may also need to sign out of Acrobat, relaunch the app and sign back in to your Acrobat desktop software to prompt activation after the new license has been assigned. 

 

To sign out of Acrobat Professional 2024,  Open Acrobat, click on your profile picture/icon in the top right, and select Sign Out. Alternatively, go to Help > Sign Out.

 

You can then close Adobe Acrobat, and relaunch by selecting "Adobe Acrobat Classic" from your list of apps. You will then be prompted to login using your AdobeID credentials. If prompted, please ensure that you select the "University of Guelph CCS" profile, which is the profile we use to assign your license.

 

 

Please note, your AdobeID credentials are not linked to your U of G Central login credentials and will not automatically update if you change the password for your U of G account.
