SAS 9.4 License Renewal Instructions

 

Obtain your SAS installation data file

Users can order an annual SAS license (SID license file) by completing the request form on the SAS page of the CCS Software Catalog.

Run the Renew SAS Software utility

To renew the SAS license file perform these steps.

 

  1. On your computer, verify that all SAS sessions are closed or that the SAS expiration message window is closed.
     
  2. Select Start and navigate to SAS in the list of installed programs and expand the SAS folder.

     
  3. Right-click Renew SAS Software 9.4, select More and select Run as administrator. Note: If a User Access Control dialog box appears, click Yes (or Allow).


    Alternatively, navigate to the C:\program files\SASHOME\SASDeploymentManager\9.4\ folder (Note: Your SAS installation might be in a different folder). Right-click sasdm.exe and select Run as administrator. Note: If a User Access Control dialog box appears, click Yes (or Allow). Select the language in which to view the SAS Deployment Manager and then select OK. Select Renew SAS Software. Click Next and proceed to Step 5.
     
  4. Select the language in which to view the SAS Deployment Manager and then select OK.

     
  5. In the SAS Deployment Manager dialog box, Apply SAS Foundation license file for renewal is selected by default. Click Next.

     
  6. Click Browse and navigate to the SAS installation data file (SID file) license file that was previously saved on the machine (If you do not have the SID file, refer to Obtain your SAS installation data file). Select the SAS license file name and click Open.

     
  7. Verify the operating system and SAS products and click Next.

     
  8. Review the summary of products for renewal and click Start.

     
  9. Wait for the renewal process to complete.


    If the license renewal is successful, a green check mark is displayed. Click Next.

    If it is not successful, an error message is displayed. Review the error to determine how to fix the problem. Or, if a log file is indicated, open the log file and search for error messages. Contact the IT Support Centre for assistance with any errors.
     
  10. Click Finish.

     
  11. Open SAS 9.4 (English) (Start > SAS > SAS 9.4 (English)) and verify the new expiration dates. Refer to Verify the currently licensed SAS products and expiration dates.

 

Verify current licensed products and expiration dates

To check the currently licensed SAS products and corresponding expiration dates, do the following:

 

  1. Open SAS 9.4 (English) (Start > SAS > SAS 9.4 (English))
     
  2. In the SAS Editor window, enter this code: proc setinit; run;
     
  3. Select Run and then select Submit.
     
  4. View the products and expiration dates in the SAS log window.
