Renew NVivo License (NVivo 2020 or NVivo 14)
NVivo licenses provided by the University of Guelph are valid for one year (expires annually on July 26th) and users must request a new activation code to reactivate NVivo for another annual term.
Step 1: Request a New Activation Code
- To request a new activation code, please complete the following request form that corresponds with the version of NVivo that you have installed.
Step 2: Renew your NVivo License
Follow these instructions in order to deactivate a current NVivo license and reactivate to use a new license.
- Make sure that you are connected to the internet.
- Close any NVivo projects you have open.
- Deactivate current NVivo license
- In Windows: Click the File tab, Product Info, Manage License and then Deactivate License.
- In Mac: In the NVivo menu (top toolbar), select Licensing / Deactivate.
- Confirm deactivation, and close NVivo.
-
Restart NVivo.
Most likely you are still logged in with the profile you were logged in with before deactivation.
- If the license you want to use is in an account you have access to under this profile, continue below to activate.
- If the license you want to use belongs to an account under another profile, log out of myNVivo, start NVivo again and log in with the profile you want to use.
-
In the dropdown, select the account with the license that you want to use and click Activate. (If you have logged in with a new profile there may not be a choice of accounts—in this case just click Activate.)
Activation is automatic.
