Troubleshooting Login Problems: I can’t Login to Email/Courselink/Web Advisor/Sharepoint web page

Most services on campus use the login format of email address, password and then confirm the login with an authenticator app or text message (see MFA pages). If the login page to the service is asking for Login ID – enter what is before your @uoguelph.ca/@guelphumber email address.

Make sure your machine has done all of its updates and the browser is updated. See our list of FAQ’s at the bottom of this page. If you get a specific error message when you try to login see this page.

If you are not able to login follow these steps to help resolve the issue.

1. Test your password to confirm it is correct. Open this page in an incognito/private browsing tab (access this from your browser menu at the top right) so that you are prompted to login. If your password is saved in your browser you can retrieve it.  To help verify you are entering your password correctly you can type it into a text editor such as notepad (windows) Notes (Mac) or a blank document and copy and paste it.

If your password fails, please contact us for a password reset. If you do not have a current MFA method contact us and we can help you remove it and do a new set-up.

2. If your password works, open the URL for the service in an incognito/private browsing tab. This page has a list of common sites so you can verify the URL

3. If the login works in an incognito/private browsing mode you can clear the cache and cookies in your browser so you can login in using a regular tab. We recommend users logout of services and close their browser on a regular basis.

Login FAQ's

I’m a first year and I’m trying to log into courselink and I get an “unauthorized error”

First year students will not get Courselink access until close to the start of their first semester – 1 to 2 weeks before it starts.

I’m an OpenEd student trying to log into Courselink with the username provided to me and it doesn’t work

When logging into Courslink as an OpenEd student, you should take the login ID provided  and add @uoguelph.ca to the end of it.  Example: username@uoguelph.ca

I can’t login to Web Advisor

Undergraduate and Graduate students will get access to Web Advisor when they are sent a login account. OPenEd students do not use Web Advisor, course registration and tax forms can be found in the OPenEd Student portal. Staff and Faculty can no longer login to Web Advisor - see the FAQ for staff on the login page and a link to the list of courses on the Registrar website.
