University of Guelph accounts are not permanent; they are deleted within a certain timeframe. We recommend not registering for external accounts with your University of Guelph Mail account as once your account is deleted, you will no longer have access to those. We can recover accounts if it has been less than 30 days since deletion. You will most likely be informed in advance of when your account will be deleted.
Undergraduate students will have access to their University of Guelph account for approximately 1 year after graduation OR after withdrawal from 5/6 consecutive semesters.
Faculty/Staff will lose access to their University of Guelph account one day after your completion of service with the University. You will keep your account if you have had a Retiree account pre-approved and set-up with HR. You cannot have a Retiree account created if you have not set it up with HR before retiring.
Retirees keep access to their accounts until they no longer want access.
Organizational accounts have a renewable term of up to one year. At the end of the term, CCS will contact the account owner to review the account status and either renew if the account is still in active use or deleted if no longer.
Sponsored accounts are owned by the sponsoring department and, as such, can be deleted at any time by that department. As soon as the sponsorship has ended, the Central Login Account, email address, and all related files are removed from CCS servers.
